Dolly Parton herself would be proud of this inventive jukebox musical

As jukebox musicals go, Here You Come Again: The New Dolly Parton  is among the more inventive ones. It doesn't just feature Dolly Parton, it also depicts Dolly herself as a fantasy figure who bursts out of a poster of herself to help a fan in trouble when he's stuck in his attic bedroom during the 2020 lockdown. And like the lady herself, it's funny, warm and full of gumption.

Steven Webb is simply adorable as Parton fanatic Kevin. His comic timing and knowing looks are spot-on and Dolly is brilliantly played by Tricia Paoluccio, as if she's channeling the very spirit of the superstar singer in a show that balances humour, poignancy and good old home truths in a way that the icon would be proud of.

Here You Come Again at Riverside Studios until 18 January 2025 and is touring the UK until 22 February. - for more information and tickets, visit hereyoucomeagain.co.uk
