If a traditional musical is on your holiday wish list this year, then Leicester Curve's Christmas production of My Fair Lady is sure to fit the bill. Directed by Nikolai Foster, this energetic production comes with all the grand sets and sumptuous costumes you could hope for, while Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Lowe's classic songs sound irresistible.

It's impeccably cast, with a radiant Molly Lynch as Eliza Doolittle, and David Seadon-Young providing an unusually young, vibrant take on Professor Henry Higgins. Together, they manage to conjure up the sort of warm chemistry that can be difficult to achieve in a show where there's such a glaring power imbalance between the characters.

My Fair Lady has a wealth of gender, class and cultural themes that are given only a surface-level exploration in this production, but the performances and score nevertheless combine to provide an evening of quite ‘loverly’ escapism.

My Fair Lady plays at Leicester Curve until 4 January 2024 - for more information and tickets, visit curveonline.co.uk
