Max Harwood excels in the UK premiere of the fantasy musical based on the best-selling children's book

This bouncy American musical based on Rick Riordan’s beloved, bestselling children’s fantasy novel – think Harry Potter meets High School Musical and Greek mythology! Max Harwood excels as Percy Jackson, leading a terrific cast through Joe Tracz’s ambitious but convoluted book and an effective pop-rock-folk score by Rob Rokicki.

It’s a tall tale, told propulsively if not always clearly, and if there’s not enough real magic in Lizzi Gee’s staging (the show's UK premiere), then the energy and talent of the cast carry it through, and fans of the novel  will be thrilled to see their beloved characters on stage.

The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical plays at The Other Palace, London until 2 March 2025 – for information and tickets, visit theotherpalace.co.uk.
